Continuing my discussion on the major components of HVAC unit I would like to discuss circuit boards/zone dampers. The circuit board simply controls the sequence of events needed for proper operation of the equipment. Most new equipment now use circuit boards instead of a series of relays and timers.

Circuit boards are generally very reliable, which is good because they are usually very expensive. Most new A/C and HVAC units will come a quality circuit board. Here at Jones Air Conditioning of Naples (239) 596-5855 we will test you board and determine if it needs to replaced; before other serviceman will simply replace the part without a proper diagnosis

In a HVAC unit circuit boards control most of the major function of the units especially when it comes to sequential operations. See Video http://youtu.be/8N2KYpYkG00

Testing your compressor with an ohm meter that will help a technician understand the condition of the compressor. A good licensed and well equipped technician will test the compressor across the common lead to start lead- then test the common terminal to run terminal and then finally run terminal to the start terminal and listen for feedback.

During the test we should here a confirming sound or beep when the terminals are touching and functioning properly.

Here at Jones Air Conditioning of Naples we are available for questions and comments all week long . Call us 239-596-5855. Please view our video -

The refrigerant coils may look like and cause home owners to think that a low functioning or poor cooling Air Conditioning and heating unit is low o Freon. This maybe not true as you can see on the left a dust and air pollutant laden will not receive the proper ventilation.
Whereas a dust free A/C unit will allow proper air circulation and cooling without the costly need for repair and unnecessary charge of Freon.

At Jones Air Conditioning and Electrical of Naples, Florida we can offer an honest assessment of your needs. Call us today (239) 227-3115 before it get's to hot and your uncomfortable and ready to over heat.

<![CDATA[Capacitors and troubleshooting]]>Tue, 27 May 2014 15:37:48 GMThttp://jonesairconditioning.com/hvac-quick-tips/capacitors-and-troubleshootingPicture
Sometimes a capacitor will partially fail whereby increasing or decreasing the amperage the flows through the circuit- which is directly related to the function of the HVAC Unit or Air Conditioner. Most start and run capacitors are used in in Air Conditioning Units to allow enough amperage to flow through the starter motor to get the motor up to speed. Then the run capacitance will be reduced as the unit is running properly. Please call Jones Air Conditioning of Naples Florida. 239-227-3115

With a properly gauged ohm meter our technicians can test capacitance and verify a lead or post has not shorted or become corroded. The sooner you call the better because you could be wasting valuable energy. See Ohms Law in Previous posts on this information site.

<![CDATA[Large AC Freon Leaks]]>Sat, 17 May 2014 18:03:08 GMThttp://jonesairconditioning.com/hvac-quick-tips/large-ac-freon-leaks Picture
Larger Freon leaks will most likely need to be addressed by a air conditioning service technician. They may have to solder cracks or holes in line and even replace evaporator or condenser coils.

If your system loses all the Freon do to a larger leak it will need to be evacuated to remove any moisture and none condescension from the system.

This is procedure is started by putting a vacuum pump on the system that sucks all the contaminant's out. If this is not done when your system will not function properly even after recharging it. Many times when you have a smaller leak in your system the technician will spend time looking for a leak that can not be found and just add freon to the air conditioner only to have it leak out again by the next cooling season. This can end up costing you hundreds of dollars every year or two.

The other problem with just adding freon is that before your air conditioner gets so low that you realize it your energy costs will be very high to run a system that is not fully charged. If you have a freon leak it is a good idea to have a technician perform a full leak search to locate the leak. Questions? Give Jones Air Conditioning of Naples a call: 239-596-5855

<![CDATA[Air Conditioning blowing hot air]]>Tue, 17 Sep 2013 17:55:28 GMThttp://jonesairconditioning.com/hvac-quick-tips/air-conditioning-blowing-hot-air
One possible reason that HVAC systems blows warm air is dirty filters. The system is producing cold air but it cannot flow through the ductwork. Clean air filters protect your equipment and help it perform properly. HVAC systems work harder as the outside ambient temperatures approach triple digits and may not cool as effectively as you desire.

You should also verify that the outside unit is running. If the outdoor unit is on, ensure that leaves and other debris are not obstructing the airflow. An air conditioner that blows warm air can be a sign of insufficient refrigerant. Only licensed air conditioning repair technicians can replenish HVAC coolant.

Give us a call today if your ac unit is blowing hot air where convection is preventing good cooling: 239-596-5855.
